The ARCA Menard’s West Series joined IndyCar this weekend at Portland International Raceway, delivering a truly wild conclusion to the event on FloRacing.
On the final lap, Sam Corry held the lead over Ethan Tovo as they approached the Turn 1 chicane. Tovo made contact with Corry in their battle for the win, forcing Corry to push Tovo wide into the dirt to maintain his position.
Approaching Turn 5, Tovo attempted another pass on Corry, sending both cars tumbling off the racing line and into the dust. Meanwhile, Kyle Steckly had moved to the front with Mason Massey charging hard in second place.
As Massey closed in on Steckly through the final corner, the Canadian driver appeared poised for victory. However, Steckly misjudged the entry and slid broadside into the runoff area. Corry and Tovo, running in third and fourth after their incident, also found themselves completely off the racing surface.
Maintaining composure amid the chaos unfolding around him, Massey smoothly passed Steckly on the frontstretch to claim a dramatic victory under the checkered flag.
Steckly settled for a disappointing second place, while Hailie Deegan surged into third at the eleventh hour. Despite suffering two off-track excursions on the final circuit, Tovo remarkably held on to finish fourth, with Eric Johnson Jr. completing the top five.
The dramatic finish vaulted Massey back into championship contention. This marked his second victory of the 2026 season, having also won the campaign opener at Kern Raceway.
The primary ARCA division competes this weekend at Iowa, where Tristan McKee scored victory lane on Friday—just days after celebrating his 16th birthday.
