EXCLUSIVE: The series retains a flawless 100% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and its leads — pastor Malcolm (Scott Foley) and newly single mother Lori (Erinn Hayes) — remain star‑crossed lovers. However, Prime Video has opted not to renew the show for a second season, Deadline reports.
The cancellation comes more than a month after the series premiered globally on Prime Video. It is part of Wonder Project’s faith‑based family drama initiative, which also produced the hit series House of David. The show debuted on the Wonder Project add‑on on January 25 and received a wider release on May 15.
House of Day, which premiered its second season on the Wonder Project add‑on in November and achieved a wide release on Prime Video in late March, has now been renewed for a third season.
Created by Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson, the drama follows Malcolm, a recently widowed pastor raising three children, and Lori, a newly divorced mother of two teens, as they navigate single life while caring for their families.
The series concluded with Malcolm preparing to confess his feelings to Lori, only to discover that she is weighing whether to move on with a new boyfriend or reconnect with her ex‑husband. The moment is left unresolved, as the show will not return for a second season.
Additional cast members include J.R. Ramirez (David Soto), Caleb Baumann (Merritt Soto), Cary Christopher (Justin Jeffries), Leven Miranda (Flora Jeffries), Liv Lindell (Casey Soto) and Cassidy Paul (Penelope Jeffries). The series was showrun by Deitchman and Robinson alongside Garrett Lerner, and executive produced by Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt, Jon Gunn, Brad Silberling, Alex Goldstone, and Jonathon Levin for Wonder Project, with Foley also serving as an executive producer. Production was handled by Amazon MGM Studios.
