Prime Video Unveils Alia Bhatt’s Young-Adult Rom-Com ‘Don’t Be Shy’ for September Global Debut

Prime Video has set a September premiere date for “Don’t Be Shy,” a young-adult romantic comedy produced by Alia Bhatt and Shaheen Bhatt under the Eternal Sunshine Productions banner.

Sreeti Mukerji serves as writer and director of the coming-of-age film, with Grishma Shah and Vikesh Bhutani attached as co-producers.

The narrative stars newcomers Aarushi Bajaj, Ansh Duggal, Bianca Arora, and Piyush Khati in the lead, supported by a pivotal cast including Kunaal Roy Kapur, Anurag Basu, Neha Dhupia, and Anju Alva Naik. The story explores friendship, young love, heartbreak, and the journey of figuring out life as a young adult.

Nikhil Madhok, Director and Head of Originals at Prime Video (SVOD) and Amazon MGM Studios India, commented on the global debut, describing “Don’t Be Shy” as one of the platform’s most cherished projects. He highlighted the film’s introduction of four outstanding newcomers— Aarushi, Ansh, Bianca, and Piyush—whose fresh performances bring authenticity to their roles. Under the creative guidance of Sreeti Mukerji and the Bhatt sisters, the film delivers a joyful, heartfelt celebration of friendship, love, and the beautifully messy journey of growing up.

Eternal Sunshine Productions was founded in 2021 by Alia Bhatt and her sister Shaheen Bhatt, author of the mental health memoir “I’ve Never Been (Un)Happier” (Penguin Ebury Press, 2019). The company’s debut feature, “Darlings,” bowed in August 2022 as a Red Chillies co-production and marked Jasmeet K. Reen’s feature directorial debut. The slate also includes “Poacher,” the Prime Video series from Emmy winner Richie Mehta, and “Jigra,” an action-adventure from Vasan Bala co-produced with Dharma Productions.

“Don’t Be Shy” will premiere exclusively on Prime Video in Hindi with English subtitles across India and more than 240 countries and territories worldwide on September 25.
