ISLAMABAD, Nov 3 (APP): Khurram Schezad, adviser to the finance minister, announced that the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) investor base grew by an all‑time monthly high of 25,747 in October 2026, a 66% year‑on‑year increase that pushed the total number of investors to a record 681,965.
In the first ten months of 2026 (January–October), PSX added 218,894 net new investors—more than the combined total of the previous four calendar years (2022‑2025) and almost matching the growth seen over the preceding five years (2021‑2025), he posted on X.
He noted that the 218,894 new investors from January to October 2026 lifted the overall base to 681,965, representing a 56% year‑on‑year rise. Since June 2022, 406,995 net new investors have been added, a 148% expansion from the then investor base of 274,970.
Approximately 85% of these newcomers are Gen Z and Millennials, underscoring the younger generation’s increasing involvement in capital markets. The sustained rise reflects growing confidence in Pakistan’s economic stabilization, stronger macroeconomic fundamentals, sound policy direction, and positive long‑term capital‑market prospects.
The trend also supports the government’s broader agenda of democratizing savings and investments, expanding retail access, enhancing financial inclusion, and deepening domestic capital markets. This helps channel household savings into productive investment and long‑term economic growth.
