[KSE 100 Index Slips 698 Points Amid Persistent Bearish Trend]
ISLAMABAD — The benchmark KSE 100 index of the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) continued its bearish trajectory on Wednesday, falling 698.56 points (−0.40%) to close at 171,943.60. Trading volume dropped to 477.674 million shares, compared with 722.624 million in the prior session; exchange values fell to Rs22.637 billion from Rs27.942 billion yesterday. Total market capitalization decreased to Rs19.233 trillion, down from Rs19.295 trillion. Among the 492 constituents in the ready market, 162 posted gains, 293 had losses, and 37 showed no movement. CN Energy dominated the volume chart with 65.824 million shares, followed by Aisha Steel Mill (28.558 million) and Thatta Cement (25.595 million). Notable performers included PIA Holding Company Limited (+Rs568.02) at Rs17,450.00 and Pakistan Services Limited (+Rs98.02) at Rs1,078.25. Conversely, Unilever Pakistan Foods Limited declined (−Rs349.50) to Rs24,500.00, while Buxly Paints Limited fell (−Rs114.48) to Rs1,030.36. In the derivatives (DFC) market, turnover reached 131.978 million shares (Rs7.107 billion) compared with 176.266 million shares worth Rs8.304 billion yesterday. The DFC market saw 81 advances, 214 declines, and 4 steady players.
