KARACHI: In the early hours of Friday morning, a water tanker collided with a motorcyclist on University Road near Safoora, killing the rider, according to officials.
A traffic police official identified the victim as Saad Asif, 38, and said the crash occurred on the main road near Government Degree College around 4:50 a.m., resulting in his death at the scene.
The body was transferred to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for medico‑legal procedures.
The driver fled the scene, abandoning the tanker, which was then set ablaze by an angry mob. The deceased was employed at a fast‑food chain.
Rescue‑1122 spokesperson Hassaan Ul Haseeb Khan said the water tanker was completely destroyed by the blaze.
