LAHORE: The Punjab government has inaugurated an eight‑week summer learning program under the Taleem Programme in 12 districts, beginning June 2. The camps aim to provide continuous academic support during the school break.

According to a notification from the School Education Department, 6,060 camps will operate in 3,030 selected schools across Bahawalnagar, Bahawalpur, Bhakkar, Chiniot, D G Khan, Layyah, Lodhran, Mianwali, Muzaffargarh, Pakpattan, Rahim Yar Khan, and Rajanpur.

The camps run five days a week from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. and will continue until August 7, 2026. The initiative seeks to strengthen foundational literacy and numeracy skills among students.

District education officers have been instructed to take ownership and ensure effective implementation, with an emphasis on active community mobilisation to maximise reach and impact.

Teachers participating in the camps will receive an additional Rs 40,000 per month on top of their regular salary, an incentive designed to ensure their availability and motivation throughout the programme.

Officials have been directed to make all necessary arrangements so the camps become operational on schedule in the selected schools.
