QUETTA: Bela police thwarted a human smuggling attempt, arresting 15 undocumented migrants and three facilitators, officials said.
According to SSP Hub Mirza Bilal Hassan, police teams led by the Bela station house officer conducted targeted raids after receiving intelligence regarding the smuggling of migrants along infrequent, illegal border routes.
Authorities arrested 15 suspects during the operation, who were planning to cross the border via a route locally known as the “dunki route.”
Police also confiscated three auto-rickshaws and took their drivers into custody; these drivers allegedly used the vehicles to transport migrants to the border area for onward crossing.
The migrants hailed from various districts, including Gujranwala, Sahiwal, and Hub. Legal proceedings have been initiated against all detained individuals, and further investigation is underway to map out and dismantle the human smuggling network.
