Rams defensive end Myles Garrett and defensive tackle Aaron Donald will finally appear together on the field this Sunday in Washington, a prospect that Garrett says will be unfavorable for opposing offenses for the remainder of the season.
Donald missed Week 1 as he worked to get back into shape after a two‑year retirement, while Garrett has been sidelined since Week 1 due to knee surgery. The return of both, two-time Defensive Player of the Year honorees, will create a distinctive challenge for opposing offenses.
Garrett said, “Opponents will have to choose their poison. Whoever gets freed up on a given play, we’re both strong in one‑on‑one matchups, so it will be entertaining.” He added that entering the season he never imagined this opportunity, and that Donald kept fans waiting for a while, making the prospect exciting. He looks forward to taking real snaps alongside him.
Garrett noted that his underwhelming showing in Week 1 against the 49ers revealed the need for knee surgery, a step he had hoped to avoid.
He expressed frustration after the game, saying his performance was not up to par and was affected by a physical issue. While he preferred not to miss any time, he recognized the need to be realistic about his condition and made the best decision for himself and the team.
Now that Garrett is back, he believes that playing alongside Donald will give the Rams an elite defense for the rest of the season.
