The Los Angeles Rams have dodged the worst outcome for starting cornerback Jaylen Watson, who suffered a dislocated right shoulder during the first half of Sunday night’s 30–26 defeat by the Denver Broncos. Head coach Sean McVay provided further clarity Monday; Watson struggled during play when his arm was entrapped while making a defensive assignment. The player exited the field under a sling and remained confined to the bench for the remainder of the contest.
McVay stated that the Rams will not place Watson directly on injured reserve, meaning the cornerback could potentially return much sooner than previously expected. To mitigate the risk of prolonged inactivity during his rehabilitation, Treni McDuffie—formerly a Kansas City Chiefs teammate and current secondary colleague—pledged personal engagement. McDuffie committed to inviting Watson over for regular meals and maintaining constant contact with him through the locker room environment.
“We are deeply invested in helping him return to form for next season,” McDuffie remarked.
