The Los Angeles Rams’ star wide receiver, Puka Nacua, is confronting mounting off‑the‑field challenges that could impact his season prospects.
The NFL community is closely watching for the outcome of potential disciplinary action against Nacua following his offseason incidents.
In a TikTok video posted Sunday night, Nacua’s former partner, Hallie Aiono, detailed disturbing aspects of their relationship.
Nacua’s personal life drew public attention last year when he navigated a paternity dispute with Aiono, the mother of his son, Kingston.
“I went from loving somebody so deeply for four years, I felt it in my bones, to experiencing extreme betrayal, abuse, complete neglect from them, in what felt like it happened almost overnight,” Aiono said.
“A lot of the things that were public affected my mental health. But honestly, the things that were happening in private are what completely crushed me and altered my brain chemistry. Those parts, what people never saw, or know of, are what broke me.”
Aiono explained that the video was intended to clarify why she is seeking professional assistance for her mental health.
Although Aiono did not level specific accusations against Nacua in the video, her statement of abuse raises concerns, particularly as Nacua is already facing a civil lawsuit that alleges physical assault and battery.
Madison Atiabi has filed a civil suit against Nacua, charging him with assault, battery, gender violence, and negligence, alleging he bit her shoulder on New Year’s Eve.
The Rams are set to begin their season on Sept. 10 in Australia, facing the 49ers, with uncertainty surrounding whether Nacua will travel with the team to Melbourne.
