Rebel is urging fans to sign a petition that will be presented to Congress on Monday.
In an Instagram post published Friday, Rebel revealed she received an urgent alert from I AM ALS after returning home from this week’s Rebel Heart edition of AEW Dynamite.
Rebel explained that the Accelerating Access to Critical Therapies for ALS Act, commonly known as the ACT for ALS, is set to expire on September 30 unless Congress reauthorizes it. She emphasized that lawmakers are attempting to delay a final decision until the end of 2026, but many ALS patients cannot afford to wait that long.
Rebel captioned her post with:
“You’ve heard me talking about how important I AM ALS and their bill – the ACT for ALS – means to me. Renewing it will secure another $500 million for ALS research and treatment access. Even though it has unanimous support, Congress might keep pushing it off until the end of the year or longer. Please sign your name to this petition and tell them that’s not ok. ALS deserves your support, and needs it now. We can’t afford to wait. The ALS community needs hope and we need it urgently ”
According to I AM ALS, the ACT for ALS enables investigational drugs to reach patients who would otherwise lack access and has established a “more coordinated, better funded ALS research landscape than existed before its enactment.”
