On August 9, during the Chainsmokers’ Afters set at the Splash House festival in Palm Springs, a dispute led to bottles being thrown into the crowd, causing injuries to nine individuals and hospitalizing seven. Local authorities indicated that the altercation was unrelated to the victims, and an arrest was made within the week regarding the incident.
Subsequently, on September 4, at the Discovery Meadow venue in San Jose, reports from police and ABC7 revealed that 14 people were hospitalized following the Chainsmokers’ show, primarily due to alcohol or drug-related complications.
These consecutive incidents underscore the importance of robust safety measures at music events. Attendees face risks ranging from substance abuse issues to physical injuries from crowd disturbances, prompting discussions on how to ensure safer environments.
