Reform UK Challenges ‘Complaints Culture’ Amidst Financial Scrutiny, Says Farage

Regarding the source of funds donated by Fiona Cottrell, Farage stated he was unaware of the donation’s origin and not involved in the transactions. However, he affirmed he had been informed it was her personal money, with Reform UK emphasizing consistent compliance with donation regulations.

Farage characterized the current climate as a “complainants’ society,” asserting that any complaint against him automatically triggers investigations. He claimed political parties are “constantly writing to all authorities,” placing Reform UK under daily scrutiny for nearly all its activities.

He argued that the traditional two-party dominance since World War One now faces unprecedented challenge. “There is a whole ecosystem with a century of development around this. And we come along from virtually nowhere and threaten the whole thing,” he stated, suggesting coordinated establishment resistance.

Pressed further, Farage described this as “normal human behavior” where power figures resist new competitors. “It’s the whole ecosystem, it’s everything,” he emphasized.

He anticipates an imminent interview with Parliament’s standards commissioner Daniel Greenberg regarding his probe into the £5 million from Harborne, which he maintains was a personal gift not requiring Commons disclosure. Despite questioning Greenberg’s impartiality, he criticized the standards committee’s political composition—featuring equal representation from Labour, Conservatives, and Liberal Democrats but excluding Reform UK MPs—as predetermined in outcome.

“Have you seen who’s on the committee? I think we know the outcome already. I’m not going to say anything more than that.” He further argued that judicial proceedings involving opposing parties in electoral contests pose inherent conflicts of interest.
