Revitalizing Australian Fashion: AFC Sets New Ambition for Paris Export Milestone
The Australian Fashion Council is embarking on its most ambitious international trade mission to date, targeting Paris Fashion Week SS27 with a dedicated showroom. The initiative aims to strengthen export pathways for Australian designers and highlight the sector’s economic significance.
The announcement follows a successful drive for Australian Fashion Week 2026, which attracted over 30 runway events and engaged international buyers and media. This momentum underscores Australia’s projected $27.2 billion contribution to its economy, with 489,000 jobs and 77% female participation.
AFC is set to participate in Global Gateways: Paris 2026, bringing 15 designers to a centralized exhibition space. The program includes buyboxes, export readiness training, and strategic networking opportunities with industry leaders. Support from Austrade’s Trade Diversification Network and Create NSW ensures focused progress.
Government officials emphasized the urgency: “This is more than a trade event—it’s a structural shift for Australian fashion’s global presence.” The industry views this as a crucial step toward expanding talent, innovation, and international impact.
