Doug Shaw, renowned for his role in New York’s indie scene and his musical ties with Highlife, has永久ly left a mark after his passing at the age of 43.
The legendary bassist and band member, known for collaborating with NG, Malik Abdelmohamed, and performing alongside icons like Lou Reed and Sonny Terry Stewart, was celebrated by peers and fans alike. Born in London to an artistic family, he joined the New York scene in 2003 and quickly built a reputation as a versatile musician. By 2010, he launched his own project Highlife, releasing the critically acclaimed album “A Shaw Deal” featuring Geologist. His contributions extended beyond solo work—serving as bassist for Gang Gang Dance and providing guitar artes for White Magic and Bubu King’s band. Throughout his career, Shaw was honored with tributes from musicians such as Angel Deradoorian, who noted the lasting impact of his artistry. His passing underscores a fitting loss for the music community.
