Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has praised Arsenal’s transfer approach throughout the summer window, despite some skepticism from sections of the club’s supporters.

The Greece international may not yet carry the profile of a marquee signing, but his early performances have drawn strong praise from Ferdinand, who believes the 22-year-old could emerge as one of the most astute acquisitions of the campaign.

During a recent episode of his YouTube podcast, Ferdinand reflected on the closing moments of the transfer window, offering insights into both Arsenal’s recruitment and Manchester United’s own activity. While commending his former club’s disciplined approach, he expressed enthusiasm for several of Arsenal’s key additions.
Beyond Tzolis, Ferdinand highlighted the quality introduced through the signings of Bruno Guimaraes and Ezri Konsa, asserting that these players addressed specific needs within Mikel Arteta’s squad structure.
“They’ve definitely improved,” Ferdinand commented. “Adding Ezri Konsa gives them a top-class centre-back—a player who’s consistent, durable, and dependable. Then there’s Bruno Guimaraes, a dynamic midfielder whose presence adds real energy and balance to their engine room.”
Ferdinand continued: “Arsenal didn’t need to splash huge sums across numerous positions. Instead, they were calculated and efficient—targeting exactly the type of players required at this stage of development.”
“Tzolis is going to be a winger I think we’re going to have to watch out for this year. I believe he’ll make a meaningful contribution and could very well prove to be one of the standout bargains of the season.”
