The Riyadh airport was struck again on Saturday in an apparent missile attack by Yemen’s Houthi forces, according to a diplomatic source.
Dozens of people were injured, most of them Saudi nationals, a hospital source in the Saudi capital said, adding that at least five victims required intensive‑care treatment.
The incident follows an assault on Riyadh’s international airport on Thursday that left three people dead.
Although Saudi authorities have not confirmed the strike or any airport closure, several witnesses reported that an evacuation was underway on Saturday, with officials urging passengers to check their flight status.
One traveller said he heard a loud explosion while waiting to board, while another described seeing a blast that wounded several people.
“I was on gate 403 at the domestic terminal,” the witness recounted. “I saw 401 hit, and I saw injured people in front of my eyes. Everyone was running.”
The Canadian, German and Spanish embassies in Saudi Arabia advised their nationals to avoid the airport amid the latest security reports.
Kuwait Airways announced the cancellation of flights KU775 from Kuwait to Riyadh and KU776 from Riyadh to Kuwait on Saturday, citing the airport’s closure due to the security situation.
