Air traffic and passenger flow at King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh resumed normal operations on Friday, following two Houthi attacks that killed three Saudi nationals and wounded others, according to Saudi state media.
State‑run Alekhbariya TV reported that passenger movement at the airport was flowing smoothly, with all services restored and air traffic operating normally.
The broadcaster noted that the swift return of flights demonstrated the airport’s robust infrastructure and Saudi Arabia’s civil aviation authority’s flexibility in managing extraordinary situations, while placing passenger and staff safety as the top priority.
The report added that the incident was not isolated, as the kingdom had endured Houthi attacks on civilian airports since Tuesday.
Three Killed in Two Airport Attack Incidents
Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Civil Aviation announced that three citizens were killed and several others injured in two separate attacks on Thursday that struck airport facilities and a Saudi Arabian Airlines aircraft.
The authority stated that one attack hit airport infrastructure, while the other impacted a Saudi Arabian Airlines plane.
The assaults wounded numerous citizens and residents of various nationalities, according to the report.
Injuries varied from minor to serious, and the wounded were promptly transferred to hospitals for treatment.
The authority also reported property damage resulting from the attacks, though the exact magnitude was not disclosed.
While the agency did not name a perpetrator, Houthi officials claimed on Thursday that they had launched ballistic and cruise missile attacks against King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, Najran Airport in the south, and an air base in Khamis Mushait in the southwest.
