RIYADH: Turki Alalshikh, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority (GEA) and president of the Saudi Boxing Federation, has revealed the complete lineup for the “Mexico vs. The World” boxing event, headlined by Saul “Canelo” Alvarez and Christian Mbilli, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The 10-fight card is scheduled for Saturday, October 31, at The Venue in Riyadh as part of Riyadh Season. The event will be streamed live on DAZN and will pit Mexican fighters against opponents from various countries. The undercard features three world title bouts—super middleweight, featherweight, and super lightweight—alongside six additional matches.
The main event sees Alvarez return to the ring for the first time since his 2024 bout with Terence Crawford. He challenges Mbilli for the WBC super middleweight title, which the French-Cameroonian fighter will defend for the first time. The unbeaten Mbilli, making his debut at a Riyadh Season event, faces what Spa describes as the most significant challenge of his career.
In the undercard, Mexico’s Jaime Munguia defends his WBA super middleweight crown against Russia’s Nikita Zon. Munguia, who won the title in May, will face Zon for the first time outside his home country. The featherweight title sees Rafael Espinoza, 28-0, defending his WBO belt against Venezuela’s Lorenzo Parra, the division’s top contender. Espinoza has successfully defended four times since claiming the title last December.
The final world title clash features Mexico’s Lindolfo Delgado and Canada’s Arthur Biyarslanov competing for the vacant IBF super lightweight title. Both unbeaten fighters—Delgado (24-0) and Biyarslanov (21-0)—make their Riyadh Season debuts. Additionally, Mexico’s David Picasso (WBC Silver titleholder) faces the Philippines’ Carl Martin, the WBO’s top-ranked super bantamweight contender, while other matchups include Raymundo Rojas Garcia vs. Japan’s Reito Tsutsumi and multiple Mexican fighters taking on international opponents.
Alalshikh announced ticket availability for the main event on September 30, with bookings accessible via webook.com and the fight airing on DAZN as a pay-per-view event. The bout was initially announced in May at the Grand Egyptian Museum in Egypt, where Alvarez and Mbilli faced off for the first time. The event was later rescheduled from September 12 in Riyadh.
Alvarez, a former undisputed super middleweight champion with 63 knockout wins in 68 career fights, aims to reclaim a titles he once held and has never been stopped. His 2024 loss to Crawford drew over 41 million viewers on Netflix, marking one of boxing’s most-watched events.
Mbilli, also never knocked out, secured the interim WBC title with a victory over Maciej Sulecki in June and was promoted to full champion in January. His recent draw against Lester Martinez marks his latest appearance before this Riyadh headline assignment.
