A participant sustained a facial goring during a chaotic bull run at Spain’s San Fermín festival on Saturday, while several others escaped serious injury.
Six bulls, accompanied by steers, surged through the densely packed thrill‑seekers lining Pamplona’s narrow course.
The massive animals knocked runners to the cobblestones, and faltering participants triggered multiple pile‑ups during the two‑and‑a‑half‑minute dash from the holding pen to the bullring, where the bulls will later be faced by matadors.
One runner suffered a horn puncture to the face, and twelve additional individuals received medical care for various bruises and contusions, according to the University of Navarra Hospital.
Early in the 875‑metre (957‑yard) stretch, a black bull broke from the herd, charging into a cluster of runners and striking one squarely in the side of the face with its horn.
