A 14-year-old Israeli citizen was killed Friday morning when a Russian drone struck a residential building in central Kyiv, the Foreign Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry stated that the Israeli consul in Kyiv and the Department for Israelis Abroad have been managing the case since receiving reports of the death.
The ministry said it is in contact with the family and providing necessary assistance.
The strike, apparently caused by a drone, struck the family’s home in central Kyiv’s Pecherskyi district around 8:00 a.m. local time. The teenager’s mother was injured and evacuated for medical treatment.
As far as is currently known, the victim held Israeli citizenship and his family had previously immigrated to Israel before returning to Ukraine about 20 years ago.
The FJCU condemned the Russian attack, stating that “this marks the fifth High Holy Days holiday season spent under the shadow of war, and communities are striving to maintain a sense of normalcy amidst this unimaginable reality.”
“We pray for peace and complete redemption soon,” the FJCU added.
“The fire was extinguished at the scene, and rescue forces continue to deal with the aftermath. In total, eight regions have been attacked since the beginning of the day,” Zelensky continued.
“One person was killed in Odesa due to a repeated attack on a postal terminal. In Zaporizhzhia, a clinic was hit while people were there. There are wounded in the Sumy and Mykolaiv regions.”
