Ryan Blaney was heading towards a strong result at Daytona on Saturday.
After navigating the chaos that scattered much of the field on the final lap, Blaney approached the checkered flag.
However, before he could cross it, he was turned into the wall by Ricky Stenhouse Jr.’s No. 47 car, prompting a caution that ended the race.
Blaney vented his anger over the incident while speaking to his crew chief on the radio.
“Fuck No. 47. What the fuck? What the fuck are we doing?” Blaney said. “Right down the backstretch and he fucking hooks me.”
Watch: Blaney blasts Stenhouse for sparking last-lap wreck
Blaney’s frustration was well founded; after cutting through the turmoil he was positioned to contend for a win or at least a top‑three finish. Instead he watched Stenhouse secure fifth place while he settled for 33rd.
One positive is that his standing in the points chase remains unchanged. Denny Hamlin had already clinched the regular‑season lead before the Coke Zero Sugar 400, and even a victory would not have allowed Blaney to overtake him. Blaney kept second place in the championship points.
Nevertheless, any lingering animosity between the drivers may need addressing soon, as similar battles over the final ten races could decide the championship.
