Sami Zayn is on the brink of winning the WWE World Championship, yet he remains uncertain about how fans will respond to his potential reign as the sport’s top star.
At WWE Night of Champions 2026, Sami Zayn will enter a triple‑threat match for the WWE World Championship, facing GUNTHER and Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
In an interview with FOX News Digital, Zayn said he is uncertain about how fans might react to a reign as WWE Champion.
As a practicing Muslim, Zayn sees an opportunity to capture the title in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, which would add cultural significance to his victory. He added,
“I think there’s a lot of cultural and historical significance that would maybe hit me after the fact [that I’ve won the title]. From a sentimental point of view, for sure, it’d be kind of awesome. I think it would be a big cultural moment.”
Despite being a long‑standing fan favorite, some observers have grown weary of Zayn, alleging that his frequent presence in championship contention is excessive.
That criticism intensified earlier this year when Zayn captured the United States Championship just before WrestleMania, depriving fans of a scheduled showdown between Carmelo Hayes and Trick Williams in Las Vegas.
