Aligned with the launch of its latest Galaxy devices during Wednesday’s Galaxy Unpacked event, Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Card, its inaugural branded credit card designed to convert everyday purchases into cash rewards, particularly for consumers who frequently shop within Samsung’s product ecosystem. The card offers both a digital experience through Samsung Wallet and a physical metallic card featuring a bold black Samsung logo.
Issued by Barclays US Consumer Bank on the Visa network, applications for the Galaxy Card opened concurrently with its announcement. A limited-time promotion allows cardholders to receive $200 in bonus cash rewards after spending $2,000 within the first 90 days of account activation.
“This represents another milestone in the evolution of Samsung Wallet and mobile payment solutions, providing an innovative option for consumers seeking cashback rewards whether they’re making routine purchases or investing in the latest Galaxy products,” stated Woncheol Chai, Executive Vice President at Samsung Electronics, in a formal statement.
While Samsung ventures into consumer credit products, it follows Apple’s lead, which introduced its own branded card, the Apple Card, in 2019. Similar in format, the Galaxy Card aims to integrate seamlessly with Samsung’s existing device ecosystem and payment infrastructure, offering tailored financial benefits for Galaxy users.
Key Benefits of the Samsung Galaxy Card
The card’s rewards system prioritizes spending within Samsung’s ecosystem. Cardholders earn 5% cash back on eligible Samsung purchases, 3% on transactions made through Samsung Wallet, and 2% on select streaming platforms such as Netflix, Disney+, and Spotify. All other purchases qualify for 1% cash rewards. Additionally, members of the Samsung VIP Advantage loyalty program can receive a 20% discount on the $150 annual membership fee.
The Galaxy Card is engineered to complement users’ existing financial tools while enhancing the value of Galaxy device ownership through strategic rewards and seamless integration with Samsung’s digital services.
