RIYADH — A Saudi-Chinese consortium has been awarded a SR1.15 billion ($306 million) contract to design, supply, and install curtain-wall facades for Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium in Qiddiya, a key venue slated for the 2034 FIFA World Cup.
The joint venture, IKK Fangda JV Co., pairs China Fangda Group’s Shihui International Holdings (51% stake) with Saudi-based Isam Kabbani & Partners, a subsidiary of IKK Group (49% stake). The agreement was signed with Uptown Stadium Construction JV, the project’s general contractor comprising Spain’s FCC Construccion and Saudi Arabia’s Nesma & Partners Contracting.
The project encompasses the main stadium, museum, and ancillary buildings, with a targeted completion timeline of 863 days. The venue is designed to seat over 45,000 spectators and integrates views of the Tuwaiq cliffs into its architecture.
For China Fangda Group, the contract represents a strategic milestone, accounting for 60.7% of its projected 2025 revenue. The company indicated that successful execution will establish a benchmark portfolio with international influence across the Middle East, with revenue recognition tied to project progress and applicable accounting standards.
The award advances amid the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 economic diversification drive, with the Ministry of Finance’s 2027 pre-budget statement affirming continued spending on strategic development projects to support long-term growth. Engineering challenges include high winds at the cliff-top site, sandstorms, and extreme temperatures, all requiring compliance with Saudi standards.
Prince Mohammed bin Salman Stadium is one of 15 proposed venues across Riyadh, Jeddah, Al Khobar, Abha, and Neom for the 2034 tournament, per official bid materials. The bid outlines 11 new builds alongside refurbished existing facilities, intended to serve both the World Cup and the Kingdom’s long-term sporting infrastructure needs.
Separately, an SR829 million mechanical package covering HVAC, firefighting, and building-management systems was awarded to Elegancia Arabia Trading in September, with completion scheduled for May 2030, according to Estithmar Holding.
