[Saudi Official Refutes WSJ Claim of $51 Billion Houthi Demands]
RIYADH – A Saudi Foreign Ministry official on Thursday “categorically denied” a Wall Street Journal story released Wednesday that alleged the Houthi militia sought $51 billion from the Kingdom and national sovereignty in exchange for halting hostilities.
In a X post, Deputy Minister for Public Diplomacy Rayed Krimly declared the report lacked any factual basis, labeling the allegations as fabrications invented by the newspaper’s journalists or their purported sources.
Krimly also accused the militia of seizing power from Yemen’s government, causing widespread famine and dragging the nation into conflicts and foreign agendas that served no strategic interest.
He affirmed that Yemen already possesses an internationally recognized government and should not be pressured into further negotiations under false pretenses.
