Security forces mobilized in Karachi’s Gulistan-i-Jauhar neighborhood on Saturday after reports emerged of heavy gunfire and an explosion in the area, according to Dawn News.
Specialized units, including the Rapid Response Force and police commandos, were dispatched to secure the scene. Authorities have cordoned off the general vicinity, with police and paramilitary personnel establishing a perimeter.
While no injuries have been confirmed, rescue teams have also arrived at the location. Rescue 1122 Sindh stated it received alerts regarding an explosion near Block 5 of Gulistan-e-Jauhar and immediately deployed teams from its central command center to assess the situation.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah took notice of the reported explosion and alleged firing near Mosamiat Chowrangi, requesting a detailed incident report. The Chief Minister contacted the Sindh Inspector General and the Additional Inspector General for Karachi, directing them to ensure an immediate police presence and necessary action to determine the nature of the incident.
Sindh Home Minister Ziaul Hasan Lanjar also acknowledged the event, ordering the Additional IG to submit a comprehensive report as soon as possible, according to the Home Department.
