In separate operations across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, security forces neutralized five terrorists in Bannu, Lower South Waziristan, and Dera Ismail Khan, according to official sources.
In Bannu district, three terrorists were eliminated during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Bakakhel area after security forces raids on their hideout led to an exchange of fire.
Operations have been intensified to dismantle terrorist infrastructure following an attempted vehicle-borne bombing at Miryan police station on July 15.
Expanded operations in Bannu now cover Bakakhel, Janikhel, Miryan, Sarra Dargah, and the Wazir sub-division, with 28 suspects detained in Norar and Mambati Barakzai areas.
Wana terrorist plot foiled
A major suicide attack plan in Lower South Waziristan’s Wana was thwarted when security forces destroyed an explosives-laden vehicle and motorcycle.
The operation in Ghwakhwa area, conducted after three-day surveillance, resulted in one terrorist fatalities and five injuries to others.
Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi praised the action, stating it prevented potential civilian casualties.
D.I. Khan operation
In Dera Ismail Khan, the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) eliminated Khalid alias Commander, a wanted terrorist linked to multiple attacks including the killing of CTD Constable Muhammad Ali.
The CTD Special Weapons and Tactics team neutralized the target during a coordinated operation near Korai area after negotiations failed.
