Russian strikes in Ukraine over the past 24 hours have killed seven people and injured more than 67. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced on X that several regions — including Odesa, Sumy, Zaporizhzhia, Kharkiv, Kherson, Donetsk, and Dnipro — were targeted.
According to Zelenskyy, Russian forces launched over 130 attack drones and eight missiles during the overnight and early‑morning barrage.
Ukrenergy, Ukraine’s state electricity grid, reported power outages in Odesa, Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy.
The Ukrainian Air Force stated that its air‑defence systems intercepted five missiles and 115 unmanned aerial vehicles.
The attacks followed a government reshuffle on Thursday, which saw Sergii Koretsiy appointed prime minister. Koretsiy previously headed the state gas company Naftogaz.
The reshuffle coincided with the dismissal of Defence Minister Mykhailo Fedorov, a move that has unsettled military leadership.
Protests erupted in Kyiv and other cities, with demonstrators holding signs such as “Don’t mess with what works,” “Hands off Fedorov,” “Bring Fedorov back,” and “Power still belongs to the people.”
Separately, the Russian Defence Ministry claimed it had shot down 243 Ukrainian drones overnight.
