A witness testified that they never consented to an MP placing their hands on her breasts at a London venue, describing his behavior as intrusive and inappropriate.
Patrick Spencer, the Member of Parliament for Central Suffolk and North Ipswich, is charged with allegedly approaching two women behind a bar in August 2023, wrapping his arms around them without consent, and inappropriately touching their breasts.
During testimony at Southwark Crown Court, a complainant recounted how Spencer persistently pressured her to accept a drink despite her clear refusal before making physical contact.
Spencer, 38, who was elected to Parliament in July 2024, faces two counts of sexual assault, which he denies.
Testifying from behind a screen, the witness described Spencer’s initial interactions as friendly and animated, though she noted a shift in his behavior as he began inquiring about her marital status.
“I felt a strong need to distance myself—he was violating my personal space,” she stated. “When I mentioned my husband was present, he continued pressing me with personal questions, which made me feel increasingly uncomfortable.”
