The Scottish Football Association has announced a “critically important” summit dedicated to shaping the future of the national game.
All Scottish Professional Football League clubs have been invited to participate in the forum, which is scheduled to convene in St Andrews on September 4.
According to correspondence obtained by BBC Scotland, the SFA intends to “discuss opportunities” regarding the cultivation of homegrown talent and will consult with clubs that have successfully “optimised their elite talent development model.”
The memorandum emphasizes that the meeting aims to address the “current reality” facing the sport in Scotland.
Key topics of discussion will include enhancing the development prospects for local talent and identifying ways to increase revenue streams for professional clubs.
The move follows a challenging period for the national team, which recently failed to progress from its group during the men’s World Cup—marking their first tournament absence since 1998.
The summit will be led by SFA Chief Executive Ian Maxwell and Chief Football Officer Craig Mulholland.
