Shakur Stevenson asserts that Floyd Mayweather surpasses Sugar Ray Robinson in technical prowess during a resurfaced interview.
Robinson reigned as welterweight champion for five years (1946–1951), maintaining a 91–0 record during his peak.
Historically ranked among boxing’s greatest, Robinson amassed 129 wins (85 KOs) across 132 fights before transitioning to middleweight, where he claimed five world titles.
The 49-year-old Mayweather, who finished with a flawless 50–0 record, faced skepticism about retiring earlier this year to face Manny Pacquiao again—though the 2027 delay has pushed any potential rematch further ahead.
“Floyd Mayweather would win decisively. His boxing IQ and skillset were far more advanced than Sugar Ray’s,” Stevenson stated. “While Robinson kept his hands low defensively, Mayweather’s technical superiority was undeniable.”
