Wide receiver Josh Downs has expressed a preference for playing for a team other than the Colts, yet he will be lining up in their uniform on Sunday.
Although Downs did not confirm a recent rumor that he sought a trade, he asserted via a link that he remains open to any offer. However, head coach Shane Steichen confirmed that Downs requested a move during a press conference on Friday. The coach had spoken with the player and assured him that Downs would still face the Jaguars on Sunday.
“You’re a professional. Obviously you requested a trade, but you’re on this football team. You’ve got to show up and we gotta go play a game on Sunday,” Steichen said, via Colts radio announcer Matt Taylor.
Downs, entering the final year of his contract, has recorded 26 catches for 307 yards this season.
