Shane van Gisbergen secured his second NASCAR Cup Series victory of the 2026 season, triumphing at Sonoma Raceway to join an elite group of drivers with multiple wins this year. The triumph marks the eighth road course victory of Van Gisbergen’s Cup career, placing him alongside NASCAR legend Tony Stewart for second on the all-time list.
Chase Briscoe narrowly missed the win, finishing 0.357 seconds behind Van Gisbergen after leading laps during the event. Pole-sitter Ty Gibbs claimed victories in both stages but settled for a third-place finish. Connor Zilisch, Van Gisbergen’s rookie Trackhouse Racing teammate, earned his best result to date with a seventh-place finish.
All 36 starters completed the race distance, though Tyler Reddick encountered mechanical issues with his power steering, relegating him to a last-place finish—four laps off the pace. This outcome dropped Reddick from the championship lead, now one point behind Denny Hamlin.
