Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reached out to the country’s top military commanders on Wednesday, conveying Eidul Azha greetings to the Chief of Defence Staff, General Asim Munir, along with the Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar and the Naval Chief Admiral Naveed Ashraf, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
During separate phone calls, the prime minister lauded the professionalism of Pakistan’s armed forces and acknowledged their steadfast service and sacrifices in safeguarding the nation, the PMO reported.
“The prime minister stated that the nation takes immense pride in its courageous soldiers and the unwavering dedication of Pakistan’s armed forces,” the statement said.
The PMO noted that Shehbaz prayed for the country’s security, advancement, and prosperity, and “extended special recognition to the officers and personnel carrying out their duties in defense of the homeland, even on the occasion of Eid.”
In response, General Munir and the service chiefs thanked the prime minister for his warm greetings and offered prayers for happiness, peace, and prosperity for all Pakistanis on Eidul Azha, the PMO said.
“They reaffirmed their commitment that the armed forces of Pakistan remain fully prepared at all times to defend and protect the country,” the statement concluded.
Earlier in the day, the prime minister also extended heartfelt Eid greetings to the people of Pakistan and the broader Muslim community worldwide.
In his message, he observed that the values of sacrifice, unity, and solidarity are essential to building lasting national cohesion and sustainable progress.
