Shudder To Think Unveils New EP ‘Who Sent You?’ with Title Track Premiere

The Washington, DC art-punk group Shudder To Think formed in 1986, issuing a string of intriguingly fuzzy records before disbanding in 1996. Frontman Craig Wedren later built a prolific career composing for film and television, and the band regrouped for reunion tours in 2008 and again in 2025. Last year they dropped a two‑song single marking their first new material in 27 years, and next month they will follow it with a three‑track EP titled Who Sent You?.

Similar to last year’s ‘Thirst Walk’ b/w ‘Playback’ 7‑inch, the forthcoming Who Sent You? EP will appear on Dischord Records—the legendary DC indie that released the band’s early output before their move to Epic for 1994’s Pony Express Record. (Aside from Shudder To Think and Jawbox, few Dischord acts made the jump to a major label in the post‑Nirvana era, and those transitions did not pan out.) The EP’s title track is a jagged, skronky piece that truly captures the band’s classic sound. Below is Craig Wedren’s commentary on the song:

“Who Sent You?” is about my teenage years in Cleveland in the 1980s, just before I moved to DC with my outsized emotions – young, horny, bored. It’s both a collage of memories, refracted through the prism of time, and a message back to my younger self (“sense your way home”). Above all, it’s a nocturnal THANK YOU to all of the girls, family, friends, music, and invisible hands that lit the path, angels and devils both. Who, indeed, sent you??
