Hong Kong police arrested a woman for allegedly wearing a T-shirt bearing a seditious message outside West Kowloon Court.
According to a police statement issued on Monday night, the woman was detained last week on suspicion of causing a public disturbance, obstructing police, and acting with seditious intent.
A police spokesman stated that the purpose of the security operation was to maintain public safety and order, though specific details of the operation cannot be disclosed.
The arrest occurred just hours before judges delivered a verdict against two former leaders of the now-disbanded group responsible for organizing Hong Kong’s annual Tiananmen Square vigil.
Shortly after 5 a.m. on Friday, over 50 individuals had gathered outside the courthouse to observe or listen to the judgment against former chairman Lee Cheuk-yan and former vice-chairwoman Chow Hang-tung of the Hong Kong Alliance in Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China.
The two individuals and the alliance were charged with inciting subversion under the national security law for advocating an end to “one-party dictatorship” in mainland China.
