Siddle Appointed NSW Bowling Coach for Domestic Season

The 41-year-old will continue playing for the Melbourne Stars in the BBL while assisting NSW in all their Sheffield Shield matches. He will be part of Haddin’s coaching staff alongside Peter Forrest and Daniel Smith.

Although his state career was primarily spent with Victoria, Siddle also previously spent three seasons representing Tasmania.

“It is incredibly exciting to be joining the NSW Blues this season,” Siddle said. “I look forward to the opportunity to mentor this talented group of players ahead of what will be a massive summer. I cannot wait to get started.”

Meanwhile, Botha, who stepped down as Queensland coach earlier this year, will join the squad on a temporary basis.

“Having Peter and Johan join the Blues set-up demonstrates our commitment to surrounding the team with high-quality personnel,” Haddin said. “Peter not only brings a wealth of experience and knowledge, but he also exemplifies the manner in which we want our cricketers to play the game.”

“We are confident we have assembled a well-rounded coaching team ahead of what promises to be an exciting season for the Blues.”

Away from Australia’s trio of elite fast bowlers—Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazlewood—who rarely feature in state cricket due to international duties, NSW’s pace attack features Liam Hatcher (part of the Australia A squad touring India), emerging talent Ryan Hadley, allrounder Jack Edwards, experienced Sean Abbott, and left-armer Ben Dwarshuis.

In the spin department, Joel Davies will tour Zimbabwe and South Africa with the ODI squad, while Tanveer Sangha is part of the white-ball contingent of the Australia A tour to India.

NSW will commence their campaign with a One-Day Cup clash against Queensland on September 22, followed by their opening Sheffield Shield match against Tasmania on October 8.
