Silverlake Conservatory of Music Celebrates 25th Anniversary with Star-Studded Benefit Concert

Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dave Grohl, and Vince Staples are among the star-studded lineup slated to perform at the Silverlake Conservatory of Music’s 25th anniversary benefit concert, taking place on Oct. 17 at the Hollywood Palladium.

Founded in 2001 by Michael “Flea” Balzary, Keith “Tree” Barry, and Peter Weiss, the Silverlake Conservatory of Music addresses gaps in music education programming across Los Angeles public schools. The institution provides weekly music lessons to over 900 students. Additionally, its scholarship program supports more than 200 students from families who could not otherwise afford lessons, offering free instruction, instruments, supplies, and ensemble classes.

The conservatory’s mission is to facilitate dynamic music education and to teach musicians of all skill levels. While primarily focused on youth, the community is welcome to participate. The school offers private lessons across all orchestral and band instruments, including voice, as well as diverse ensemble classes at reasonable costs. Scholarships are granted to qualifying children, covering lessons and instruments.

According to the conservatory’s mission statement, “Performances and recitals provide a fulfilling experience for students while serving as a beautiful outreach to the community.” The organization aims to maintain the highest teaching standards within a friendly, fun, and nurturing environment, recognizing that the study of music enriches the lives of students, teachers, and society as a whole.

This private benefit on Oct. 17 aims to raise $1.5 million to sustain the conservatory’s music programming for the year. To commemorate its 25th anniversary, the organization is hosting its annual celebration at the Hollywood Palladium with an all-star cast, rather than a traditional private dinner.
