Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have been collaborating with musical superstar Kendrick Lamar on a highly anticipated musical comedy film, details of which have remained largely under wraps. Known under the working title Whitney Springs, the project has faced multiple release date shifts, initially targeted for July 2025 and later March of this year. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the film’s timeline, the creators have issued an official apology for the prolonged delay.
In a recent statement shared with The Ankler, Parker and Stone took full responsibility for the scheduling setbacks. “We take full responsibility for the schedule delay of this movie,” the duo stated. “We apologize to our partners at pgLang and Paramount, and we appreciate their patience. South Park and life’s circumstances have gotten in the way, but we still believe in the project.”
The Ankler report also shed light on the film’s premise, which reportedly centers on a historical slave plantation museum in the Midwest. The story follows a young Black re-enactor who clashes with tourists and confronts the town’s hypocritical, racist mayor—portrayed by Parker himself. The movie is also expected to feature unreleased tracks from Lamar.
Recently, the comedy creators have been busy with other satirical endeavors, like renaming their Emmy-winning show South America — a humorous nod to political rebranding schemes.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” they shared on social media earlier this week. “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.”
