Soybean futures advanced 5 to 7 cents this morning, extending Friday’s gains that peaked at 16 ¾ cents. The September contract ended the week up 55 ½ cents, while November rose 43 cents. Open interest increased by 9,921 contracts on Friday.
The cmdtyView national average cash bean price was $11.45 ¾, up 13 ¾ cents. Soymeal futures rose 2 80 to 3 80 across most contracts, following a 14 90 rally in September last week. Soybean oil futures increased 11 to 54 points, with September up 369 points over the week. Friday night, 45 deliveries were issued for July soybean meal and 304 for July bean oil.
Updated forecasts from NOAA’s 7‑day Q496 model show little to no precipitation for the Dakotas, Kansas, and parts of Minnesota, Iowa, Illinois, and Missouri, with trace totals in Ohio and Indiana.
WASDE data released today reported a 10‑million‑bushel drop in U.S. soybean stocks for the 2025/26 crop year, bringing inventory to 330 mbu. Exports rose by 10 mbu, while new crop stocks remained steady at 310 mbu. Production increased by 40 mbu due to added acres, offset by a 30 mbu lift in exports.
On the global front, South American soybean production for 2025/26 remained unchanged. New‑crop world carry‑out fell 0.71 MMT to 124.17 MMT, a 0.19 MMT decline from the 2025/26 crop year, but Brazilian exports were up 0.5 MMT.
Commitment of Traders data from Friday afternoon indicated that speculators added 37,479 contracts to their net long position in soybean futures and options for the week ending July 7. This comprised a mix of new long positions and short covering, resulting in a net long of 68,679 contracts.
July 26 Soybeans: closed at $11.96 ½, up 16 ¾ cents, currently up 7 ¼ cents.
Nearby Cash: $11.45 ¾, up 13 ¾ cents.
Aug 26 Soybeans: closed at $11.91 ¾, up 14 cents, currently up 6 ¼ cents.
Nov 26 Soybeans: closed at $11.90 ¾, up 9 ¼ cents, currently up 5 ½ cents.
New Crop Cash: $11.25 ⅟, up 9 ½ cents.
