Spain secured their first victory of the tournament with a commanding 4-0 performance against Saudi Arabia.
The scoring opened just 10 minutes into the match when 18-year-old sensation Lamine Yamal arrived at the far post to convert a low cross from Mikel Oyarzabal. Oyarzabal soon found himself on the scoresheet, netting his own goal to make it 2-0 before the 25-minute mark, leaving Saudi Arabia struggling to keep pace.
The dominance was so absolute that head coach de la Fuente opted to substitute both goalscorers at halftime to manage their workload.
Spain extended their advantage four minutes after the interval when a strike from left-back Marc Cucurella deflected off Hassan Altambakti and into the net for an own goal.
This decisive win provides a much-needed boost following last week’s frustrating 0-0 stalemate against tournament debutants Cape Verde. Entering the competition as one of the favorites, Spain will look to carry this momentum into their final group stage fixture against Uruguay next week.
