Europe’s largest banking network, Sparkassen, has launched XRP trading services for its customer base, according to a report from Whale Insider. The development coincides with XRP defending a key long-term demand zone near $1.32.

Details Behind XRP’s Multi-Trillion Euro German Bank Adoption

The new service is facilitated by DekaBank at a cost of €0.99 per order plus spread, featuring pooled custody without customer private keys and restricted withdrawals. The rollout is gradual, with over 230 banks having expressed interest. Sparkassen commands roughly one-third of Germany’s retail deposits and loans and stands as a major institution across Europe.

The Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe manages approximately €1.62 trillion in total assets, €1.247 trillion in customer deposits, and more than €1.08 trillion in customer loans. The network serves around 50 million customers globally and maintains over 53 million giro accounts. These accounts operate on a payer-initiated basis, pushing funds directly from the sender’s account to the recipient. XRP trading became accessible directly within the banking app starting October 19, 2026.

German Initiative Leaves Fundamental Questions Unanswered

Aggregated assets under the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe umbrella now exceed €2.601 trillion, up from €2.537 trillion at the end of 2024. The broader enterprise web comprises 500 entities, including insurers, lenders, and leasing companies.

XRP savings schemes serve a significant long-term purpose beyond the asset’s cross-border settlement role.

With current spot trading volumes hovering around $3 billion over 24 hours, an influx of fresh retail demand from Sparkassen’s adoption could create multiple opportunities for XRP price appreciation. The key question remains how quickly European traders will adapt to XRP’s trading dynamics while the price lingers below $1.32.
