INGLEWOOD, Calif. — After a sluggish season opener, the Los Angeles Rams’ offense rediscovered its rhythm Monday night, fueled by a vintage performance from quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Davante Adams. The duo connected for two touchdowns as Los Angeles rolled to a 28-6 victory over the New York Giants at SoFi Stadium, a result that looked far more decisive than the final score indicates.

Adams, who managed just 26 yards in Week 1, erupted for eight receptions, 195 yards, and two scores—his 29th career multi-touchdown game, tying him for fourth in NFL history. His 195 yards represent the highest single-game receiving total across the league this season. With Puka Nacua sidelined, second-year tight end Terrance Ferguson stepped up as the secondary option, hauling in six passes for 54 yards and a touchdown.

New York Giants (1-1)

The Giants may have avoided catastrophic injuries to quarterback Jaxson Dart and star receiver Malik Nabers, but they could not avoid a sobering reality check in the 22-point defeat.

New York’s secondary had no answer for Adams, who caught eight of ten targets for 195 yards and two touchdowns. The offense, meanwhile, stalled completely once Dart departed. The rookie signal-caller absorbed a heavy hit to his left knee on the opening series and, despite X-rays returning negative and a desire to return, was ruled out as a precaution.

Backup Jameis Winston struggled mightily in relief, completing passes for just 111 yards while throwing a costly red-zone interception. The Rams’ pass rush overwhelmed New York’s protection, generating 10 pressures on 18 dropbacks in the first half alone. Nabers also dealt with a shoulder injury in the first half but returned to action.

Compounding matters, left tackle Andrew Thomas and edge rusher Brian Burns both exited late with injuries as the game slipped away.

Surprising Development: After rushing for 165 yards at 4.5 yards per carry against Dallas in Week 1, the Giants managed only 52 yards on the ground (2.5 YPC) against a Rams defense that had been gashed by San Francisco’s rushing attack seven days prior.
