[TITL]Anchorpoint Prepares Retail Stablecoin Rollout on Public Blockchain as HSBC Debuts RedCoin
Following the launch of HSBC RedCoin on Friday, Anchorpoint—a stablecoin-issuing joint venture led by Standard Chartered—announced plans to introduce a retail product on a public blockchain, adopting a cautious and measured approach.
“Our next major milestone is to help integrate regulated digital money into everyday payments and commercial applications, while connecting traditional payment infrastructure with this emerging digital finance ecosystem,” said Dominic Maffei, CEO of Anchorpoint. “As a public blockchain-based stablecoin, numerous considerations must be addressed when expanding into the retail sector.”
Anchorpoint’s focus on serving retail customers aligns with HSBC’s recent debut of its Hong Kong dollar-backed HSBC RedCoin, designed for the 3.3 million users of its PayMe mobile payment platform.
