Nikolaj Ehlers led the Eastern Conference final with five points, while ten players tied for the most points (three) in the Western Conference final.
Gabriel Landeskog and Eric Robinson scored the most goals in the Western and Eastern Conference finals respectively, with neither player expected to top the scoring charts.
The Stanley Cup final now prompts the question: Will the series see continued success from under-the-radar contributors, or will stars such as Mitch Marner, Jack Eichel, and Sebastian Aho take center stage?
Stanley Cup Final: Top Point Scoring Contender – Taylor Hall
Taylor Hall is emerging as a standout contender for the most points in the Stanley Cup final. Despite being undervalued by many analysts, Hall’s performance throughout the playoffs has been exceptional.
After 16 NHL seasons without a Stanley Cup final appearance, this could be his breakthrough moment. Hall is among the leading candidates for the Conn Smythe Trophy, as his line has dominated for the majority of the playoffs.
Although Hall struggled in the first two games of the Eastern Conference final with no points, a lengthy 11-day break may have contributed to his slow start. He quickly returned to form in Games 3 through 5 against the Montreal Canadiens. While he didn’t record a point in Game 4, his linemates did, and he had several scoring opportunities.
He concluded the series with a dominant three-point performance in Game 5. In 13 playoff games, Hall has accumulated 16 points, averaging 1.23 per game, which is second only to Mitch Marner (1.31) among remaining players.
Given expectations of a tightly contested, low-scoring series where space is limited, Hall’s ability to thrive under such conditions positions him as a strong candidate to lead in points.
Stanley Cup Final: Top Goal Scoring Contender – Brett Howden
Brett Howden is positioned well to lead the Stanley Cup final in goalscoring. His ability to find space in tight situations makes him a dangerous player in this series.
The Vegas Golden Knights face a Carolina Hurricanes team that has been exceptionally stingy defensively, allowing more than two goals in only one of 13 playoff games.
This defensive setup suggests a series won through physical play and opportunistic scoring — an environment well-suited to Howden’s strengths. He combines a gritty, workmanlike style with a finishing touch, which could be crucial.
With 10 goals in 16 games, Howden is tied for the playoff lead with teammate Pavel Dorofeyev. Three of his goals have been game-winners, highlighting his clutch performance. His line with Mitch Marner provides additional opportunities, as Marner is one of the league’s premier playmakers.
Howden has scored seven goals at even strength and three shorthanded, demonstrating versatility. Although he hasn’t converted on the power play, with the increased offensive opportunities in the final, that could change.
