Star Trek: Voyager remains one of the franchise’s most distinctive series, introducing the concept of a Federation starship stranded tens of thousands of light-years from Earth with no immediate return. Premiering in 1995, the series pioneered Captain Kathryn Janeway, the first woman to lead a Star Trek series, while its Delta Quadrant setting allowed for the exploration of entirely new alien species and civilizations.
Over seven seasons, Voyager became a cornerstone of the franchise through iconic characters like Seven of Nine, The Doctor, Tuvok, and Chakotay, with storylines involving the Borg and Species 8472 standing among the most memorable in the Star Trek multiverse.
As Star Trek commemorates its 60th anniversary in 2026, Voyager‘s legacy continues through spin-offs, literature, and a new release arriving this December on Steam.
An expansion pass for Star Trek: Voyager – Across the Unknown, the story-driven survival strategy game, will launch this December. The $30 USD package on Steam includes the recently released Delta Chronicles DLC and the upcoming Equinox expansion, which introduces the U.S.S. Equinox as a playable vessel in a new game mode featuring additional heroes, technologies, and mechanics.
The third and fourth DLCs promise further narrative depth with new missions, characters, scenarios, NPC ships, and technologies, though specific release dates remain within an October-to-December window. Details are expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
Set during the Delta Quadrant journey, Across the Unknown places players in command of the Voyager, allowing them to rewrite the TV series’ events through branching “What-If?” narratives. Developed by Gamexcite and published by Daedalic Entertainment, the game challenges players to repair and expand their ship, manage crew resources and morale, research technologies—including perilous Borg advancements—explore unknown star systems, and conduct strategic away missions with tailored crew selections. Combat requires assigning officers to stations, targeting enemy systems, and making tactical decisions from the bridge.
The game incorporates roguelike elements, ensuring variability between playthroughs and risking pivotal characters’ survival. Voice actors Tim Russ and Robert Duncan McNeill reprise their roles as Tuvok and Tom Paris for special mission logs, enhancing the experience for long-time fans of the Voyager era.
