Static Dress trolled the crowd at Outbreak Fest 2026 with a surprise set, generating buzz through an unexpected musical impersonation. The following article details the event and reactions from attendees.
The Leeds-based post-hardcore band, recently heralded in an NME cover story, made an unannounced appearance at the Manchester event on June 27 to support their debut album, *Injury Episode*.
Fans initially speculated about the identity of the mystery act when Static Dress took the stage. In a humorous stunt, they began performing the intro to “Safe In Your Skin” by Title Fight, a defunct hardcore band. As the song faded, the Static Dress logo appeared on screen, followed by a playful “Sorry” message and a self-deprecating introduction as Manchester’s Guilt Trip.
Fan reactions were mixed. While some chuckled, others walked away disappointed, according to crowd footage. Static Dress proceeded to perform their own material, starting with “Nostalgia Kills” from *Injury Episode*, before covering “Can’t Relate” by Higher Power via Setlist.fm.

laughing about Static Dress pretending to be Title Fight doing a secret set at Outbreak, but in all fairness I’d probably throw up if I heard a secret set start with a Modern Baseball song and I was on the other side of the venue thinking it was actually happening

Social media commentary praised the stunt, with one commenter noting, “I love all the dudes leaving immediately ,” while others highlighted the humor of mistaking Static Dress for Title Fight.
Following the set, Static Dress shared festival footage, stating, “Thank you Outbreak. ‘Injury Episode’ has been out one month.” They also promoted their upcoming UK and European tour, with tickets available.
A NME four-star review lauded *Injury Episode* as “a deliberately more intense, more complex record” that “feels like Static Dress are trying to connect more deeply with whoever’s listening.” The album was named one of NME’s best of 2026 so far.
To supplement their work, Static Dress curated a playlist titled ‘Real Emo (Modern Day Edition)’, featuring artists like Blood Orange, Mk.gee, and Dream Fatigue. Listen to the full list here.
