Actor Stephen Root, known for Widow’s Bay and King of the Hill, has officially confirmed his involvement in Grand Theft Auto 6 after months of speculation.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is slated for release on November 19. Rockstar Games has offered an extensive preview of protagonists Lucia and Jason, along with a host of supporting characters, though the cast behind these roles remains unverified.
Over the weekend, Root addressed the rumors during a red carpet appearance.
“I’m going to be in it,” Root told AP News. “The latest I know is November 19. I believe my character was in the first rollout, almost a year ago now. Too many people know me and my voice from King of the Hill, so the secret was likely out then.”

Root described the project as a departure from his typical work. “I’m so happy to be involved in it; it’s an amazing thing to look at,” he added.
Root portrays Brian Heder in Grand Theft Auto 6. The character first appeared in Trailer 2, released in May 2025, fueling fan theories about his casting.
Rockstar’s description reads: “Brian’s a classic drug runner from the golden age of smuggling in the Keys,” still moving product through his boat yard with his third wife, Lori. He’s delegated the dirty work and now houses Jason rent-free, provided he assists with local shakedowns and joins Lori for sangria.
Fans speculate that Lucia is voiced by Puerto Rican actor Manni L Perez, recognized for her role as Esperanza Morales on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and for voicing a blackjack dealer in the 2019 Grand Theft Auto Online update. Last year, Perez teased a “big” project under strict NDA.
For Jason, rumored actors include Gregory Connors and Jake Silbermann, though many point to Dylan Rourke (Grey’s Anatomy, Modern Family) due to physical similarities and a motion-capture credit on his résumé. The Grand Theft Auto 6 team has not confirmed any casting.
